Some of my Hill relatives fought in the Mexican War. It’s often referred to today as the Mexican-American War. I, however, prefer its traditional name. Samuel Hill, one of my great-great-great uncles, served in Company F of the U.S. 15th Infantry. Among his superiors were Gideon Johnson Pillow and Franklin Pierce. AJH
