Tiny Worlds

WSJI used to have model trains, years ago. I was recruited into it by my half crazy step-grandfather, Bill. One of my cousins was really into it, too. I don’t know if he still does anything. He had a setup in his basement.

I preferred working in N scale, while they concentrated on HO models mostly. N was a bit too small for Bill’s hands and eyes, I think.

It’s a fun and cool hobby. But it takes space and a bit of money. I have no decent place to keep a layout, and I’d rather invest in other things, gadgets like Kindles and laptops and wireless.

There is quite an operation at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma. They host an annual model train festival. I’d love to build something like that and let kids operate it. I just need to start my own museum, that’s all.
