I’d been wondering about these numbers. I like having concrete information.
“The government’s overall terrorist watch list has 1 million people on it. Collins’ measure would let federal authorities bar gun sales to two narrower groups: the no-fly list with 81,000 people and the selectee list with 28,000 people. Selectees can fly after unusually intensive screening.”
Most of these people are foreigners. About twenty-eight hundred, that’s two thousand eight hundred, are American citizens.
Oh, and by the way, I would probably vote for Senator Collins’ amendment banning gun sales to these select few. I would like to add some due process provisions, so anyone wrongly included on these various lists can challenge it using simple, straightforward procedures.
