I’ve been reading about Australia’s ambassador to the United States who is in Cleveland during the Republican convention.
“America was great. America is great. It is the greatest democracy, greatest economy, greatest military. I want you to believe in yourself.”
That’s what the ambassador said to a group of Republicans during a breakfast on Monday morning.
The reporter who quoted him used it as an opportunity to bash Donald Trump and his supporters while praising the likes of John Kasich. Shocking. The writer doesn’t seem to understand. Is it on purpose? I think so.
The nuance that will follow if Trump is elected is obvious. When Trump talks unfair trade deals, he isn’t referring to our allies such as Australia. It is China, and other such places where income parity and costs of production compared to America are a joke.
