I am reading about Leiterwagen, ladder wagons, common in Germany.

The sides are made from pieces of wood resembling ladders, hence the name.

Trimpin, an artist with whom I am collaborating again, shipped one back to Seattle from the family homestead in Germany. He described how his father built it and he used it to play as a child. He would ride it down hills, using a stick in a wheel to brake.

This wagon is the basic structure of a musical contraption which I will be augmenting visually.
