Ἡρόδοτος
“Very few things happen at the right time, and the rest do not happen at all: the conscientious historian will correct these defects.”
Herodotus wrote this sometime in the fifth century BC.
Later, Cicero declared him The Father of History.
He was the first to consider history from a scholarly perspective rather than a storytelling one, breaking from Homer, whose style had become the traditional norm.
