I was born in Iowa. We lived in Colo, a tiny town in Story County, not far from Mingo.
Many relatives are buried in the Graham Cemetery in Jasper County, which my father repeatedly referred to as the Mingo Cemetery, because it is located in that direction and my grandfather probably referred to it as the same.
So I have Google Alert set up for Mingo, and the story, one I didn’t know, of a scandalous party there in 1986 by some Democrat politicians hit my inbox today.
“Kaufmann points to a tawdry bachelor party in Mingo, Iowa, in the spring of 1986. Several Democratic legislators were there, but voters reelected them that year. The state representative who was charged with indecent exposure at the party won a seat in the Iowa Senate that November.”
