I love looking at old maps, especially ones that have a connection to me

This is where my maternal grandfather’s family came from — Pomerania, a region in Germany before the end of the Second World War, after which most of it became part of Soviet-dominated Poland.

This map is part of a page from an atlas printed by a man named Ludwig Ravenstein. The University of Wisconsin has a project on the atlas, digitizing the entire book.

My great-great grandfather was born in a place called Klein Pomieske, denoted by a Kl. and a small circle, which is near the middle of this map near the blue line, which I am working to establish the meaning thereof, obviously a border, perhaps that of the German Empire.
