In 1546, Martin Luther dies

February 18, 1546
Martin Luther, the German monk who started a religious revolution, dies in Eisleben. In one of his pockets he had placed the beginning of a manuscript against the Roman Catholic faith. In another pocket was a slip of paper with the words: “We are beggars, that’s the truth.”
