Henry is Henry the Second of England, often simply noted as Henry II. The “he” is his buddy Becket. They were drinking buddies and skirt chasers, and then King Henry picked Becket as archbishop, and everything changed.

Peter O’Toole played Henry while Richard Burton portrayed Becket in a 1964 film. Two men — two wonderful actors — who knew about drinking and carousing. What a movie! Everyone should watch it.
