I love this movie

SILVERADO IS A GREAT WESTERN
WITH A GREAT CAST AND DIRECTOR

Brian Dennehy is the perfect villain. The score, by Bruce Broughton, is terrific, too. Cocoon, in which Dennehy played an alien, came out the same year — 1985 — also showcasing his talent as an actor.

I have been a fan since seeing him in Silverado in 1985 and then Cocoon years later. I remember going to the theater with my father to see this amazing Western by Lawrence Kasdan, who helped write The Empire Strikes Back. I was just a young kid and was new to movies, so I didn’t make these connections till much later.

Dennehy’s daughter Elizabeth portrayed an ambitious Starfleet officer in two episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the third season cliff hanger where Captain Picard is assimilated by the Borg and the fourth season opener. I became a fan of The Next Generation after being introduced to the show with these two episodes by a high school friend.
