More than half a million Oregonians evacuate

OF THE STATE’S POPULATION
SALEM, Ore. — Authorities in Oregon report that more than 500,000 people statewide have been forced to evacuate because of wildfires. That’s over 12% of the state’s 4.2 million population. The number includes convicts from at least three jails and prisons. None have been released, just relocated.

Where is the rain?
It has not rained in Seattle for a long, long time. I think the same is true for western Oregon. It usually rains in western Oregon around Labor Day, breaking up months of summer sunshine and signaling that fall is on the way. I just checked the extended forecast and there is no precipitation expected for weeks.

An early dinner at Pike Place Bar and Grill
Heading out to meet some friends at Pike Place Market. I have not eaten out in ages. We will be trying the grub at Pike Place Bar & Grill. I am keen on helping restaurants any way I can.
Hopefully, the smoke from the fires has dissipated. We plan on sitting and eating outside. I would like to drink a hard cider, but I did not see any on their menu when I looked it up online.
I do have a window open in my apartment and the air quality seems much better than before. My eyes were burning for a while the other day.
