A good, moody film
Fairy godmother?
I am watching The Usual Suspects on YouTube. This silly TV version has dubbed out the swearing.
One of the classic, idiotic dubs is “fairy godmother.” Fairy godmother? Fairy godmother?! I am pretty sure the fairy replaces the F word. I am not sure about the godmother part. I do not know the movie that well, line-for-line. Co—ucker?
This reminds me of the edits in Die Hard. One is “Mr. Falcon,” which came up on a Conan episode, part of quite a funny segment.
By the way, I was recently banned from Twitter for describing someone, a politician, with the word whore. One of the hall monitors at Twitter HQ did not like that and promptly banished me from the kingdom.

There are some great movies on YouTube, some of my favorites. Many are free to watch with limited advertising.

This is the face of tolerance?
The preachy Hollywood crowd is going rabid.
I am beginning to really hate Hollywood and what it represents. Mental illness, and that’s what transgenderism is, needs to be treated not embraced. There are two genders, not three or four or forty.
Men trying to become women, and vice versa, is a disturbing trend. Living in Seattle, I have a few friends who are going down this road. Most are men trying to be feminine for whatever reason. Quite frankly I don’t care. If that’s your thing, then fine. But why drag me into it?
It’s fairly easy to play dress up and wear makeup. It makes you stand out from the crowd, and today it is celebrated. We must be accepting of everything, except traditionalism and conservatism, of course.
But going all the way is another story. I’d like to see some data on how many trans men go through with castration.
Obviously there is something wrong. But no one dares broach the subject or forever be deemed a bigot.
Being confused about your gender isn’t something to embrace.

Happy 74th birthday, Mr. Christopher Walken
Who knew? Actor Christopher Walken shares a birthday with my uncle.
Walken is “one of the most distinctive film actors of the past 50 years. Whether he’s playing an analog of Macduff in a wacko modernization of Macbeth, the ghost of a malicious Hessian mercenary or any one of a hundred other roles, you won’t mistake him for anyone else.”
There’s only one way to celebrate! And be sure not to walk without rhythm this weekend.

Crossfire! With three actors named Robert — Robert Young, Robert Mitchum, Robert Ryan.
Just finished watching Crossfire, a film made in 1947, the year my parents were born. It’s a good film, with shockingly modern themes. I have many thoughts on it, which I will have to write about later, besides what I have already tweeted on the Twitter. These topics go well beyond the film itself, to subjects such as McCarthyism and the Red Scare, liberalism in Hollywood, etc.

Director Scorsese says he is fascinated by history, but fails miserably in his analysis.
At Trinity College in Dublin
“Being fascinated by history, I read as much as I can. It just reminds me of the late 20s, the 30s … reading about how these things could have happened at that time. It’s a scary time.”
So is Trump Hitler? Is that what you are claiming, Mr. Scorsese? It’s so unoriginal, that it’s actually boring.
Referring to the rise of global terrorism, Scorsese says that the Iraq invasion “had created thousands and thousands of Travis Bickles.”
This reference to Bickles is much more interesting to me. But. maddeningly, Scorsese does not make it clear what he means.
Bickles, portrayed by Robert De Niro, is the depressed loner who is the focus of his 1976 film Taxi Driver, which I consider vastly overrated. Bickles is drawn to violence in his disgust against the decadence and sleaze around him.
“They say they have nothing to lose.”
Just what is Scorsese getting at?
