I am currently working on an engraving using drypoint & a small piece of Plexiglas. The subject is an ancestor, my great-great-great-great grandfather.

I decided to so more work on the shading of certain areas and more definition in his beard. I will be doing another print.

Drypoint is my favorite method for doing engraving. Etching is fun, but requires chemicals and a rather elaborate setup. I’ve never used Plexiglas before, but it is simple and fun to do.

The man is an ancestor on my mother’s side of the family, Samuel Goodell. He was born in Vermont in 1788 nor 1789.
